Approach PR receiving Yorkshire Graduate Employer of the YearIlkley Business Forum members Approach PR have been announced Yorkshire’s Graduate Employer of the Year at a ceremony attended by small, medium and large employers in the region.

Winning the “micro business” category at the beginning of the evening, the event was topped off with whoops of delight as Approach received a standing ovation when presented with the trophy for overall winner of the Yorkshire Graduate Employer of the Year Awards.

Presenting the final award, David Bagley, Director for Graduates Yorkshire, said: “This award is presented to a team which is punching well above its weight in terms of the investment in its work with graduates. The standard of entries and winners was exceptionally high and Approach has demonstrated a real commitment to the professional development of graduates as well as engaging with universities and their community.”

Approach, which recently moved from its Bradford offices to The Grove in Ilkley, clinched Bradford’s Best Small Business of the Year award in June and has just been nominated for six PR industry awards, has employed graduates since launching in 2001. The five-strong team prides itself on investing in the development of every individual and in sharing the business strategy and encouraging personal responsibility for growth.

Managing Director Suzanne Johns said: “We were absolutely delighted to be recognised for the work we do. We have been extremely successful in our policy to work with, train and develop the skills of graduates and year placement students. We genuinely want to give something back to our industry and to bring great opportunities to the next generation of PR practitioners – it’s fantastic that our forward thinking approach has now been recognised on a regional level.”

The awards, founded by Graduates Yorkshire, celebrate commitment to the personal and professional development of Yorkshire’s graduates by the region’s employers and are supported and sponsored by the Yorkshire Universities.
