Kris Hopkins is bringing Desmond Swayne, MP to visit Ilkley and Keighley on Friday, 2 March 2012. He is the Parliamentary Private Secretary to David Cameron with whom he has daily contact. It has been said that:
“A Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) is a thankless job. Despite having risen to the rank of MP, those with Governmental ambitions will need to pay their dues once more – as a bag carrier. Admittedly, PPS is a bit more than that – you are supposed to be the eyes and ears, reporting back to your boss all the gossip, what people are saying about your work in the bars and cafes of Westminster”.
In other words what we tell him will get back to the PM. He is here in his role as PPS and is eager to hear what businesses need. Here is a chance for LS29 businesses to tell the government our views. If we can influence local decisions, perhaps we can influence national decisions too.
The venue is still to be confirmed and the meeting will start at 1pm. There will be refreshments. Please contact me to let me know whether or not you want to attend: firstname.lastname@example.org. Everyone welcome but we need to know numbers for the food arrangements.
